WEEK 10

WOW!! CLASS WAS CERTAINLY INTERESTING WITH THE COMMUNICATION ACTIVITY WE DID...
FIRST OF ALL I THINK IT IS A GREAT WAY TO ENGAGE ALL OF OUR STUDENTS AS WE WERE IN CLASS.
SECOND, NO FELT LEFT OUT WE WERE ALL ON THE SAME PAGE; WITH THIS KIND OF ACTIVITY WE NEED TO STAY FOCUSED AND PLAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO ALL THE DETAILS.
I WOULD DEFINITLEY USE THIS TYPE OF ACTIVITY WITH MY STUDENTS INT THE CLASSROOM...

WEEK 9

IT WAS A VERY DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE MAKING A STORY AS A WHOLE CLASS AND JUST ADDING BITS OF INFORMATION TO THE NOTECARD... I HAD NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN SUCH AN ASSIGNMENT. IT WAS VERY INTERESTING AND A LOT OF FUN. IT DEFINITELY KEPT US ALL ENGAGED...
YES, I BELIEVE I WOULD DEFINITELY USE IT IN MY CLASSROOM. I TRY ALOT OF NEW THINGS WITH MY OWN KIDS AT HOME; AND THIS WILL GIVE ME AN IDEA AS TO HOW MY STUDENTS MIGHT LIKE OR DISLIKE THE NEW ASSIGNMENT...

WEEK 8

WELL, I'M NOT QUITE CLEAR AS TO WHAT I''L BE WORKING ON... BUT I'VE BEEN BRAINSTORMING ALOT...
IM FOCUSING ON 5TH OR 6TH GRADE MATH, ELA, SCIENCE AND PERHAPS ART.
I WANT TO DO A MATH GAME; A JOURNAL FOR ELA; A LAB PROJECT FOR SCIENCE AND CREATE A GAME BOARD IN ART;
I STILL NEED SOME ELABORATION... AND I KNOW TIME IS TICKING...

WEEK 7

WHAT IS ASSESSMNENT? WELL ASSESSMENT IS A TEST TO HELP US DETERMINE WHERE WE FIT IN; AND WHAT KIND OF BACKGROUND KNOWLEDGE WE HAVE... NOT NECESSARILY WRITTEN ALL THE TIME SOME CAN BE ORAL AS WELL.. THIS IS WHERE INFORMAL AND FORMAL ASSESSMENTS COME INTO PLAY. NFORMAL ASSESSMENTS ARE PERHAPS READING OUT LOUD IN CLASS, OR FEEDBACK FROM STUDENTS AFTER A READING ASSIGNMENT, OR ANY ASSIGNMENT FOR THAT MATTER. WITH FORMAL ASSESSMENTS, LIKE THE 'TAKS', SAT'S, ETC., WE CAN DETERMINE WHERE THE STUDENTS OR ALL OF US IN GENERAL, NEED HELP IN AND PLACEMENT....
IN A MATH CLASS WE COULD HAVE A QUICK MENTAL MATH PROBLEM FIRST THING IN THE MORNING TO SEE IF THE STUDENTS RETAINED THE PREVIOUS DAY'S LESSON... IN READING A JOURNAL COULD ALSO SERVE AS AN ASSESSMENT TO READING ASSIGNMENTS...
IT IS ENTIRELY IN OUR HANDS TO DETERMINE WHAT, WHEN, AND HOW WE WANT TO ASSESS OUR STUDENTS...

WEEK 6

WHAT IS INFORMATIVE WRITITNG? INFORMATIVE WRITING IS A PIECE OF WORK THAT WILL "INFORM" YOU ABOUT SOMETHING; FOR EXAMPLE A COOK BOOK, PAMPHLETS ON BREAST CANCER AWARENESS, PAMPHLETS ON STD'S. ETC...
WHAT IS PERSUASIVE WRITING? PERSUASIVE WRITING IS A PIECE OF WORK WHERE SOMEONE OR SOMETHING IS TRYING TO "PERSUADE" YOU TO BUY SOMETHING OR BELIEVE IN SOMEHTING; FOR EXAMPLE, ADVERTISINGS TO A RETAIL STORE, A CAR COMMERCIAL, OR BILL BOARDS, ETC..
AN INFORMATIVE ACTIVITY THAT I WOULD INCORPORATE IN SCHOOLS WOULD BE A SCHOOL FAIR; A FAIR IN WHICH MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS, PARENTS, SIBLINGS AND THE SUCH CAN COME AND SEE WHAT THE SCHOOL HAS TO OFFER THEIR STUDENTS. WE COULD HAVE AN ARRAY OF DISPLAYS WITH INFORMATION ABOUT SPORTS, BOOSTER CLUBS, VOCATIONAL PROGRAMS, A TOUR OF THE SCHOOL AND SO ON. THIS WAY IT WOULD MAKE THE TRANSITION A SMOOTHER ONE.
IN THE SAME WAY I WOULD OFFER A HEALTH FAIR AS A PERSUASIVE ACTIVITY; IT WOULD ESSENTIALLY BE JUST LIKE THE INFORMATIVE BUT WITH PERSUASIVE PIECES OF INFORMATION. FOR EXAMPLE, I WOULD INCORPORATE PAMPHLETS OF BREAST CANCER AWARENESS, STD'S, LUNG CANCER...ETC.
IT MIGHT BE A BIT GRAPHIC BUT WITH THE PERMISSION OF THE SCHOOL AND MAYBE MAKE IT A PART OF A HEALTH CLASS, I THINK IT IS DOABLE...

WEEK 5

WHAT IS WRITING? WRITING IS A PROCESS OF COMMUNICATION. WHETHER FOR OURSELVES OR FOR THE PUBLIC. THE FIVE WRITING STAGES ARE PREWRITING, DRAFTNG, REVISING, EDITING AND SUBMITTING.
IN THE PRE WRITING STAGE WE MERELY START TO WRITE DOWN ANY IDEAS THAT COME TO MIND. IN THE DRAFTING STAGE WE HAVE AN IDEA AND WILL START MAKING SENSE AND COMPLETE THOUGHTS ABOUT IT. IN THEN REVISING STAGE WE ARE READY TO KEEP AND DELETE ANY INFORMATION WE LIKE. IN THE EDITING STAGE WE NOW HAVE TO BE SURE WHERE EVERYTHING GOES AND CHECK FOR PUNCTUATION, SPELLING, GRAMMER, ETC. FINALLY COMES THE SUBMITTING STAGE AND HERE IS WHERE WE WILL GET FEEDBACK ON OUR FINAL RESULTS.
PRACTICING WRITING GETS BETTER AS WE MOVE ALONG; IT'S HARD AT THE BEGINNING FOR SOME BUT IT ONLY GES BETTER...

WEEK 4

WHAT IS A GOOD READER?
I believe a good reader is someone who can read and understand, if not in it's totallity, an article they might have in front of them. Not every one can read at a fast past and understand what they've read. Some people might have difficulty understanding the vocabulary, the content or just everything, especially if it's not appealing to them.
I consider my self a good reader because i like reading; if it's something that interests me then even better. Yet i'm like most people/students, give me something in which i'm not interested or have no idea about then I just will not like it.
