THIS IS WHERE INFORMAL AND FORMAL ASSESSMENTS COME INTO PLAY. NFORMAL ASSESSMENTS ARE PERHAPS READING OUT LOUD IN CLASS, OR FEEDBACK FROM STUDENTS AFTER A READING ASSIGNMENT, OR ANY ASSIGNMENT FOR THAT MATTER. WITH FORMAL ASSESSMENTS, LIKE THE 'TAKS', SAT'S, ETC., WE CAN DETERMINE WHERE THE STUDENTS OR ALL OF US IN GENERAL, NEED HELP IN AND PLACEMENT....
IN A MATH CLASS WE COULD HAVE A QUICK MENTAL MATH PROBLEM FIRST THING IN THE MORNING TO SEE IF THE STUDENTS RETAINED THE PREVIOUS DAY'S LESSON... IN READING A JOURNAL COULD ALSO SERVE AS AN ASSESSMENT TO READING ASSIGNMENTS...

WHAT IS INFORMATIVE WRITITNG? INFORMATIVE WRITING IS A PIECE OF WORK THAT WILL "INFORM" YOU ABOUT SOMETHING; FOR EXAMPLE A COOK BOOK, PAMPHLETS ON BREAST CANCER AWARENESS, PAMPHLETS ON STD'S. ETC...
WHAT IS PERSUASIVE WRITING? PERSUASIVE WRITING IS A PIECE OF WORK WHERE SOMEONE OR SOMETHING IS TRYING TO "PERSUADE" YOU TO BUY SOMETHING OR BELIEVE IN SOMEHTING; FOR EXAMPLE, ADVERTISINGS TO A RETAIL STORE, A CAR COMMERCIAL, OR BILL BOARDS, ETC..
AN INFORMATIVE ACTIVITY THAT I WOULD INCORPORATE IN SCHOOLS WOULD BE A SCHOOL FAIR; A FAIR IN WHICH MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS, PARENTS, SIBLINGS AND THE SUCH CAN COME AND SEE WHAT THE SCHOOL HAS TO OFFER THEIR STUDENTS. WE COULD HAVE AN ARRAY OF DISPLAYS WITH INFORMATION ABOUT SPORTS, BOOSTER CLUBS, VOCATIONAL PROGRAMS, A TOUR OF THE SCHOOL AND SO ON. THIS WAY IT WOULD MAKE THE TRANSITION A SMOOTHER ONE.

WEEK 5
WHAT IS WRITING? WRITING IS A PROCESS OF COMMUNICATION. WHETHER FOR OURSELVES OR FOR THE PUBLIC. THE FIVE WRITING STAGES ARE PREWRITING, DRAFTNG, REVISING, EDITING AND SUBMITTING.
IN THE PRE WRITING STAGE WE MERELY START TO WRITE DOWN ANY IDEAS THAT COME TO MIND. IN THE DRAFTING STAGE WE HAVE AN IDEA AND WILL START MAKING SENSE AND COMPLETE THOUGHTS ABOUT IT. IN THEN REVISING STAGE WE ARE READY TO KEEP AND DELETE ANY INFORMATION WE LIKE. IN THE EDITING STAGE WE NOW HAVE TO BE SURE WHERE EVERYTHING GOES AND CHECK FOR PUNCTUATION, SPELLING, GRAMMER, ETC.
